Thursday Market Movers March 16

Five Group 1’s at Rosehill and the All Star Mile at The Valley headlines a massive day of racing in Australia on Saturday.

Queensland will also host their own feature meeting at Doomben with the running of the $500,000 QTIS Jewel.

Almania has been the early firmer at Rosehill on Saturday after TAB posted $11 for the Australian Bloodstock stayer in the Group 3 Manion Cup (2400m).

Almania, who was brave defeating Stroke Of Luck at Rosehill last weekend, has firmed into $4.20 as of Thursday morning.

The seven-year-old was knocking down the door for a win and finally broke through for his first win in 1654 days last weekend.

Last start Group 3 Aspiration Stakes runner-up Pink Ivory has also been well backed for the Group 3 Epona Stakes.

The John Sargent-trained mare won a midweek Benchmark 78 on the Randwick Kensington track last preparation and has now firmed onto the second line of betting ($4.40) for Saturday.

Blue Diamond Stakes winner Little Brose has been very well backed early to record consecutive Group 1’s in Saturday’s $5 million Golden Slipper.

The Ben and JD Hayes-trained colt opened $21 with TAB final field and has now firmed into $11.

Godolphin pair Barber ($26 – $19) and Cylinder ($4 – $3.80) have both trimmed up.

Cylinder has won both key lead-up races for the colts, the Silver Slipper and Todman Stakes, and will likely jump a clear favourite in the race.

Favourite backers were buoyed by the news this week that James McDonald had sensationally escaped suspension for Saturday and is free to ride Cylinder and Anamoe for the blue army.

TAB have already reported two monster bets for Anamoe to win the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m).

TAB representative Glenn Munsie tweeted on Wednesday that TAB had recorded bets of $52,200 at $1.70 and $53,300 at $1.65.
