Newcastle hosts midweek racing in New South Wales this Wednesday with the track rated a Soft 5.
It is an interesting eight-race card with a host of horses early into their preparations, especially early in the card.
Race 1 – Party Doll ($1.95)
The Brad Widdup-trained three-year-old filly trialled terrifically leading into her debut at Canterbury in December where she was heavily backed. Dylan Gibbons opted to roll forward and lead a fast run race that day and was subsequently found wanting late. The form through that race has been terrific and she returned to the trials at Rosehill last month with the easiest of trials wins. Senior rider Brett Prebble takes the reins from barrier seven and expect her to be extremely hard to beat.
Race 6 – Furious ($4.80)
Trialled sensationally and Furious looks a great bet to topple the top two in betting. The Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained gelding went through the line hard held in a 900m trial at Rosehill last month. Furious jumped well on that occasion and rolled forward to sit behind the speed, trucking through the line under a hold. Leading apprentice rider Zac Lloyd goes aboard and will be suited by the wide draw after every winner came down the outside fence on Saturday.
