The Illawarra Turf Club will host their annual Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic meeting on Friday where the club has attracted a strong card of racing.
Group 1 VRC Oaks runner-up Pavitra heads betting for the feature in race seven following a strong fifth against the older mares first-up.
The Richard and Will Freedman-trained filly was strong through the line in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill last start.
Pavitra was brilliant at the trials before her first-up run and was good over an unsuitable trip first-up.
The daughter of American Pharoah is on a Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes and ATC Oaks path, and just couldn’t sprint with the sharper mares over the sprint trip.
She now steps up to the mile second-up, maps to lead and gains the services of Chad Schofield from barrier seven.
New Zealand filly Polygon ($4.40) and Call Di ($3) are the other runners in single figures.
