Blackbookers – May 13

We saw some tremendous performances across the weekend, by both horses victorious and in defeat.

Check out our horses to blackbook from last weekend’s racing.

Flemington

Shaiyhar (race four)

Australian debutant for the Bussutin & Young stable. Hadn’t ever seen a race below 2800m before resuming over the mile on Saturday and loved his work through the line. The four-year-old has only had the three starts before arriving on Australian shores and equipped himself well behind the very good Altivo. The son of Camelot built his revs along the fence and just got the stronger the further the race went.

Packing Waltham (race eight)

Another great Australian debut by the former Hong Kong galloper. Packing Waltham was forced to go back to near last from the wide gate, but accelerated sharply down the straight to hit the line well. He sprinted strongly between the 400m-200m before fading the last 200m. He was last seen contesting Group 1 company at Sha Tin and although he probably won’t live up to that here, it was a great Australian debut.

Doomben

Irish Playboy (race four)

Not sure where they go next with this horse, but his return on Saturday was great. He was thrown in the deep end and more than held his own against a strong group of horses. He kept building his revs up the inside and really worked through his gears the last 200m. Hopefully they find the right race because he is going very well.

Kalalpour (race six)

This horse is in really good form and loved the way he powered through the line to win again. He ran the 3rd fastest last 200m of the meeting and is a horse to follow confidently over the coming weeks.
